Jake Thomas played professional baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2015 – 2018. He was drafted in the 27th Round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft out of Binghamton University, and played outfield at four different levels of minor league baseball for the Blue Jays: Gulf Coast League, Long A, High A and AA.
In 186 career professional games, Thomas hit .253 with 160 hits, 84 runs, 4 HR, 67 RBI, .380 OBP and 20 SB. In 2017, he led professional baseball (Major League and Minor League) for the first two months of the season with a .545 on base percentage before his promotion to AA. An injury forced his retirement in 2018.
While at Binghamton University, Thomas led the Bearcats to two America East Championships and NCAA appearances. During his career, the Bearcat Captain hit .322 with 120 runs scored, 206 hits, 16 HR, 125 RBI, 132 walks (school record) and a .453 on base percentage in 186 games. He was named first team to the ABCA All-Northeast Region Team in 2014.
Thomas was the first America East Conference student-athlete ever to garner First-Team & All-Academic honors for three consecutive years. He graduated with a 3.5 GPA, earning his Bachelor of Science in Management with his concentration in Finance. He was on Binghamton’s Honor Roll 8x and a member of the Dean’s List. He was honored by the Chancellor of the SUNY Universities with the with Athletic and Academics Award. He was a Capital One CoSIDA All-Academic National Finalist and a member of the National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society.
The Merrick, NY native attended Sanford H. Calhoun High School where he still holds the Colts HR record (20). He was selected Long Island Player of the Year by MSG Varsity and received the coveted “Diamond Award” as Nassau County’s Best Player. He graduated with a 3.6 GPA.
He is heavily involved with charities on Long Island working with the Joe Namath Foundation and the March of Dimes.
